In May 1989,with the approval of the State Council, Fuzhou Taiwanese-invested Area Covering 1.8km,was established within the Fuzhou Economic and technological Development Zone. Since then backed up by the preferential policies for the state-level Fuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Duty-free Zone ,and High Scientific and Technological industrial Zone and favorite geological position, the area has attracted a wide range of in vestment by Taiwan businesspeople, and development programs have crowded within the extent of thus injecting new vitality for further development of the Taiwanese-invested area. In Jan.1997,the Fujian provincial People's Government decided to extend 6km.
To the mouth of the Minjiang River for the area and reported to the State Council.
