Nanning New and Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (NNHITECH)was established in 1988. In 1992, the State Council approved it to be a state high-tech development zone. Covering an planning area of 18 km2 and 8.5 km2 of new area, the Zone consists of a central area, a science and technology industrial park, an agricultural biological demonstration area, a villa area by the Missing-you (xiangsi) Lake, a bonded storage area and a science & technology street
Located in the west outskirts of Nanning, the Zone is 2km away from the downtown. With the completion of the 70m wide and 7km long main road of the city--Xixiangtang Avenue, the 60m wide city expressway and the 50m wide main road of the science & technology park, there has already been a complete transportation net in the Zone. Chencun Water Factory with a daily production of 600,000 tons of water, a 3X31, 500kva transformer station, a telecommunication branch bureau with 30,000 lines of program control telephones and a 2.1km long water & sewage system have been completed. 0.8km2 of land, the first phase of Scie-tech Park, have been leveled and roads, water, power, sewage system and telecommunication have also been connected to the municipal net. A good construction environment with complete infrastructure, perfect function and convenient transportation is beginning to take shape. The Zone is the center of science, technology, culture and education of Guangxi. 48 higher education institutions and scientific research institutes located in the Zone are always the strong support of the development of new and high-tech industries.
The Administrative Committee of the Zone is an agency of Nanning Municipality with level one branch of financial and state treasury. It consists of 3 sections and 9 bureaus, exercising municipal level authority of the economic and executive management in planning, land, construction, finance, commerce, taxation, personnel, project examination, foreign affair examination and house hold management. There are also social service organizations such as pioneer center, banking, import & export, law, information, personnel exchange center, etc., providing high efficient and first class service for enterprises in the Zone.
