HANOI, July 16 Asia Pulse - The Prime Minister has given the
green light to Ho Chi Minh (Ho Chi Minh) City's scheme to seek
foreign investors for the construction of the proposed Ho Chi
Minh City-Long Thanh-Vung Tau expressway under a build-operate-transfer
(BOT) arrangement.
The 95km-long expressway, estimated to cost US$500 million,
will shorten the distance between the southern economic hub
and to the resort city of Vung Tau by 27km.
Construction of the expressway is considered vital for the
development of the coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, part
of the southern key economic zone. The city also intends to
build another expressway, the 54km-long Ho Chi Minh City-Long
Thanh -Dau Giay route, estimated to cost more than US$217 million.
